Salary Range: $52,000.00 - $58,000.00 Salary/year

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Educates groups and individuals in using Shore Transit, assisted by the ADA Coordinator.
  • Work with potential customers with special needs, teaching them how to safely take advantage of the services offered by both Fixed Route and Origin-to-Destination; this work may be at the Shore Transit facility, at the potential customer’s home, or in the community (transportation provided).
  • Educates and assists customers, potential customers and community members who do not speak English or have limited English proficiency. This will include communicating in the language they speak or coordinating the necessary in-house and community resources to effectively communicate.
  • Represent Shore Transit at community events and meetings of key community organizations.
  • Ensure all required training is scheduled; coordinate with supervisors the best time for training to be held; notify appropriate employees when and where they are required to attend training.
  • Conduct effective training for all levels of Shore Transit staff.
  • Training to be conducted includes, but is not limited to: CDL driver training, New employee orientation, Accident/Incident Forms, Bloodborne Pathogens, Bus Stops, Flag Stops, Customer Service, Driven to Distraction, Emergency Preparedness Plans, Fare Box Policy, Fire Extinguisher/Emergency Evacuations, Employee Injury Reporting Procedures, National Emergency Management System, PASS Training, Pre and Post Trip Inspections, Principles of Report Writing, Radio Communications, Security Systems/Warning Systems, Sexual Harassment, Substance Abuse/Drug & Alcohol Abuse Awareness, Violence in the Workplace and others as required.
  • Ensures an adequate amount of training supplies are on-hand.
  • Provide training and experience to employees hired or transitioning into a Bus Operator position that need to obtain a Commercial Driver License and/or endorsements.
  • Reviews existing training programs and materials to determine appropriateness for the Shore Transit Training Program.
  • Develop lesson plans and new training materials as necessary to meet the needs of the Shore Transit Training Program.

Develop and maintain the Shore Transit Training Program manual to include, but not limited to: lesson plans, supplies and equipment needed, links/locations of all training materials.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Intermediate skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
