Purpose:

To ensure our youngest children have a solid foundation for life. To encourage the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Start children and to attend to their safety and welfare. To promote family engagement in all aspects of the program.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or comparable credential, and have been trained or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development. 
    • Prefer AAS or BA in Early Childhood Education
    • High school diploma candidate will be required to enroll in a CDA credential program and complete the credential on the Employer timetable as a condition of employment.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
    • Prefer two years experience in an early childhood (preschool and/or infant/toddler) classroom.
      • Experience should include the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at-risk, special needs, and culturally diverse populations.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suites & Database system
  • Valid Iowa Drivers License & ability to be insured under agency policy
  • Must be cleared & allowed to work in a childcare setting by the Iowa Department of Human Services
