Description
Position: Staff Chaplain - Hospice and Palliative Care
Location: Benton County and Franklin County in Washington State
Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with rotating weekends for on-call coverage.

Position Overview:
As a Staff Chaplain, you will play a vital role in providing advanced emotional, spiritual, and coping support to patients and families facing medical crises. Collaborating with our interdisciplinary team, you will assess and address the spiritual needs of individuals admitted to hospice, hospitals, and other contracted facilities.
Travel the area to serve patients across Benton and Franklin County in their homes, facilities, and in our 10-bed Hospice House located in Kennewick Washington.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in divinity, theology, psychology, or related discipline
  • Completion of 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an accredited site
  • Commitment to becoming a board-certified chaplain with ongoing progress reviews
  • Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training certificate within 24 months of hire.
  • Competency in Electronic Documentation
  • Availability for evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts as part of on-call staff
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment drug testing, including cannabis testing in WA State
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement
  • Experience in hospital spiritual care ministry, particularly in acute medical settings
  • Proficiency in interpersonal and empathic listening
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of clergy-confessional regulations and ethical considerations
  • Understanding of diverse faith traditions and cultural backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Spanish (bonus)
  • Ability to lead critical incident stress debriefings (once CISM certified)
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education

Compensation
Starting Range: $25.00/hour - $33.99/hour
Pay Range: $24.87/hour - $38.54/hour

Mileage Reimbursement: $0.67 per mile. - for eligible positions.
Vacation: Accrual of hours each pay period based on hours worked.

Continuing Education Units: Tri-Cities chaplaincy utilizes Relias Learning and CAPC for employees to earn continuing education units for their credential requirements.
Certification and Training Opportunities: Employees can partner with their department director on professional goals that benefit the agency and themselves for certification and training opportunities.

Requirements
AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
1. Demonstrate support and adherence to the agency's Mission, Vision, and Values.
2. Participate in community Education and Outreach to raise awareness of agency-provided programs including but not limited to hospice care, advanced care planning, and bereavement.
3. Responsible for knowledge and compliance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.
4. Responsible for maintaining and protecting Patient and agency information in a confidential manner. Practice appropriate HIPAA confidentiality by accessing patient-related information on a "need to know" basis only.
5. Reliable personal transportation, and current and valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
6. Satisfaction of state and agency requirements for Tuberculin screening.
7. Hepatitis B immunization series, proof of series, or signed declination.
8. Proof of applicable Vaccination(s) on file or approved accommodation/declination as appropriate on file.
9. Must pass a criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening.
10. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (see attached physical requirements and environmental conditions).
11. Complete agency and departmental orientation and training program(s).
12. Complete all continued learning, education, policy reviews, and required training by their respective deadlines.
13. Maintain licensure(s) and certification(s) required for the position.
14. Available to work as assigned/scheduled.
