Description

Position: Associate Physician – Hospice and Palliative Care

Location: Benton County and Franklin County in Washington State

Type: Independent Contractor (1099), Safety Sensitive

Schedule: On-Site 3 days a week

Job Summary:

Join our compassionate team at Tri-Cities Chaplaincy as an Associate Physician specializing in Hospice and Palliative Care. Your role will involve providing essential medical services to support patients facing serious illnesses and end-of-life, focusing on comfort-based care and improving quality of life. If you're a dedicated MD or DO with excellent communication skills and a passion for end-of-life care, we'd love to have you on board.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments and develop personalized care plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide expert guidance.
  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and will require pre-employment drug testing, which includes cannabis testing in WA State.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Malpractice Insurance: Tri-Cities Chaplaincy will provide written proof of liability and malpractice insurance with minimum coverage amounts of $1,000,000.00 for each claim and $3,0001000.00 for the aggregate of all claims, with tail coverage to insure against the actions, errors, or omissions of staff, employees, and agents.
  • On-Call: $20/per hour billed in 1-hour increments ($480 for 24 hours)
  • Active Time: $120/per hour billed in 15-minute increments. 
  • Holiday Active Time: $180/per hour billed in 15-minute increments.
  • Travel Time for principal activities: $120/per hour billed in 15-minute increments.
  • Mileage for Principal Activities (approved mileage following agency policy from and to patient homes from a work site location) At the IRS Optional standard rate for business.
  • Premiums for Certification(s) in Hospice and Palliative Care - $1.00/hour

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Washington State medical license.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience in hospice and palliative care settings is preferred.
  • Understanding or willingness to learn about compassionate end-of-life care principles.
  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive and will require pre-employment drug testing, which includes cannabis testing in WA State.

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

1. Demonstrate support and adherence to the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

2. Participate in community Education and Outreach to raise awareness of agency-provided programs including but not limited to hospice care, advanced care planning, and bereavement.

3. Responsible for knowledge and compliance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.

4. Responsible for maintaining and protecting Patient and agency information in a confidential manner. Practice appropriate HIPAA confidentiality by accessing patient-related information on a “need to know” basis only.

5. Reliable personal transportation, and current and valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

6. Satisfaction of state and agency requirements for Tuberculin screening. 

7. Hepatitis B immunization series, proof of series, or signed declination.

8. Proof of applicable Vaccination(s) on file or approved accommodation/declination as appropriate on file.

9. Must pass a criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening.

10. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (see attached physical requirements and environmental conditions).

11. Complete agency and departmental orientation and training program(s).

12. Complete all continued learning, education, policy reviews, and required training by their respective deadlines.

13. Maintain licensure(s) and certification(s) required for the position.

14. Available to work as assigned/scheduled.
