WHAT WE DO:

We are committed to assisting, advocating for and supporting families through the Judicial process by assessing, supervising, and connecting to ongoing services in order to provide an alternative to detention which will ultimately reduce recidivism and long-term involvement in the juvenile justice system. Trestle Programs, Inc. operates programs in 7 of the 22 Judicial Districts throughout Colorado. We’re looking for the right candidate to join our team in the 17th JD in Westminster, CO.

GENERAL PURPOSE: 

Provide direct support/supervision to juveniles on the Pre-trial Release Program.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 

Works under the direct supervision of the 17th Judicial District’s Pretrial Supervisor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

***This position will provide supervision and case management for pre-adjudicated youth as needed. This position will primarily focus on: (75%)

  • Supervision and outreach services to youth involved in the Juvenile court system and who are at risk to re-offend.
  • Work closely with the youth, family, school, and assigned Pretrial Case Manager to ensure compliance and engagement and/or re-engagement.
  • Conduct face to face community and home visits with assigned youth.
  • Rapid response to missed appointments, lack of engagement in treatment, etc. – this response will often consist of conducting community, school and home visits.
  • EHM/GPS hook-ups for youth ordered to this mechanism of community supervision.
  • EHM/GPS support and technical assistance
  • Responds to electronic monitoring notifications in accordance with established timelines.
  • Documentation of all youth contacts and attempted contacts in internal database and TRAILS system

Pretrial Case Management RESPONSIBILITIES: (25%)

  • Provide supervision and case management for pre-adjudicated juveniles on the Pre-trial Release program.
    • This includes utilization of office visits, school visits, community visits and home visits (when necessary).
  • Collaborate with juvenile, family, and community partners to develop a plan when/if juvenile is released from detention to ensure juvenile/community safety.
  • Follow-up on the initial information received from the Link report and provide a more in-depth interview with juvenile on Pre-trial release, including consulting with their caregivers and families, employers, school personnel, treatment providers, etc. Describe program expectations to juvenile and family.
    • Utilize assessments (Colorado Juvenile Risk Assessment, JDSAG, Link Substance Use Screen, etc.) to identify needs/risks with the juvenile and family.
    • Utilize assessment outcomes and juvenile/family input to develop case plans to leverage pro-social behaviors and reduce the risk to the community.
  • Supervise juvenile by responding to violations and positive behavior change in a timely manner utilizing graduated sanctions and incentives based on the overall history and nature of the case as well as risk.
  • Analyze data and develop implement action plans for juveniles on caseload.
  • Works with parents/guardians to establish expectations and support compliance.
  • Refer juveniles to appropriate service providers upon identifying needs/risks.
  • Refer juveniles to ENGAGE Multi-disciplinary team meeting when appropriate.
  • Maintain contact with school personnel, family, employers, and treatment providers to evaluate juvenile progress.
    • Reports juvenile’s progress and make recommendations to assigned judicial officers and any additional professionals/agencies assigned to the case.
  • Maintain documentation on all juveniles assigned to caseload; to include, but not limited to, case notes, electronic monitoring plan, court reports, UA’s, referrals, service plans and discharge summaries.
  • Monitor EHM/GPS conditions/scheduling.
  • Facilitate random urinalysis tests as appropriate.
  • Data entry into the Colorado Youth Services Network database and into TRAILS.
    • Add all new juvenile clients and all services into TRAILS within 7 business days. Close clients in TRAILS immediately after termination of Pre-Trial.
  • Attend detention hearings and sentencing hearings as required.
  • Assist juveniles and family with cases in other jurisdictions when courtesy supervision is requested.
  • Attend all department meetings, community-based staffing’s, and trainings.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and relationships with external agencies (DYC, Police jurisdictions, Adams/Broomfield Juvenile Court, Adams County Human Services Department and Broomfield Health and Human Services)
  • Maintain a safe work environment for clients, families, and co-workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (ie. Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working within the Criminal Justice, Counseling, Human Services field(s)
  • Prefer experience working in the community with clients/families
  • Law Enforcement and/or Security experience is desirable

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to pass criminal background check- including CBI, FBI, and TRAILS

  • Must have access to a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license and up-to-date vehicle insurance.
