About the Job

As the Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that Trelleborg products exceed all quality standards set forth by our valued customers. This role serves as the key point of contact between customers and production departments utilizing continuous improvement methods, including Six Sigma, SPC, SQC, and TQM, to enhance the quality of Trelleborg’s products. This role is a key contributor in developing quality control processes that build support long term repeatability of Trelleborg’s products.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop key quality staff to handle critical customer documentation
  • Interface with customers on concerns and claims while focusing on customer requirements for Rutherfordton products
  • Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery
  • Interact with plant personnel to ensure quality is evolving in conjunction with overall company plans; assist in the development of traning strategies
  • Conduct and guide PDCA continuous improvement activities with operations and technical teams
  • Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, and contractors
  • Produce and maintain quality control operating budgets
  • Lead and present improvement activities internally and externally, to include Supplier improvement developments, internal continuous improvements, corrective actions, and customer-based improvement programs
  • Generate reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analysis, and quality trends
  • Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control
  • Actively works on process control improvement with technical teams using SPC data
  • Act as the QA representative for APQD related request
  • Prepare and submit PPAPs as per the requirements
  • Other duties, as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Statistics, or related field or equivalent experience in quality related field as well as a minimum of 10 years production/manufacturing and/or inspection/lab experience (Polymer Chemistry background preferred) in aerospace and/or automotive systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying quality tools, including APQP, Manufacturing Excellence, flowcharts, problem analysis and solving tools. Includes mathematical tools (SPC)
  • Minimum five years' experience in quality roles involving administration/management, customer service, and production and processing
  • High computer skill proficiencies in the following: MS Office (PowerPoint), Access (database), MiniTab/SAS or major statistical package, specialty software (e.g. compliance, calibration systems)
  • SAP or other major ERP system with knowledge of the quality/QM model
  • Excellent written and verbal skills as well as effective problem solving and organizational skills
  • Trained in Six Sigma methods and applications
  • Ability to present concepts to our customer base
