Youth Education Coordinator
(Urban TreeTracker Lead)

Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit citizens' group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Job Description
The Education Coordinator will:
  • Teach environmental education programs at schools (K-12) in the Atlanta area with curriculum based on Atlanta’s urban forest, trees, urban ecosystems, and environmental stewardship (instruction takes place inside the classroom and outdoors).
  • Take lead role in coordinating Trees Atlanta’s in-school education program, called Urban TreeTrackers including supply management, curriculum, assist with staffing, etc.
  • Coordinate all aspects of school service learning projects (such as tree plantings or invasive removal projects).
  • Create new programs and expand existing programs with the approval of the Associate Director.
  • Organize and execute standard and customized programs for target youth groups, such as Home School, pre-school, and other groups
  • Assist Registrar with scheduling school visits and communication with schools and instructors.
  • Market and promote programs to increase registration.
  • Assist with identifying new school contacts and maintaining existing relationships.
  • Support Trees Atlanta’s Jr. TreeKeeper camp programs.
Requirements
  • 3 years’ experience in hands on environmental education (K-12) in classroom and outdoor settings and/or youth camp coordination experience.
  • Knowledgeable in tree and plant identification and urban ecosystem dynamics.
  • Background in science, STEM/STEAM teaching, primary or secondary education
  • Strong time and task management skills. Highly organized, thorough, and detail-oriented.
  • Be self-led with desire to work collaboratively on a team.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills (crucial for interaction with youth and adults, community representatives, volunteers, and staff).
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office software and the Google suite of office tools, Salesforce experience a plus.
  • Ability to compile and report data, track program performance, and manage a changing shared calendar is an important task for this role.
  • Preferred certifications: First Aid, CPR, Project Learning Tree, and other relevant certifications.
  • Licensed driver with a clean record.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Have consistent and reliable transportation with insurance coverage to reach schools and locations throughout Metro Atlanta with program materials. (Mileage reimbursement provided.)
  • Physically capable of lifting 25 lbs, working in various outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to sun, heat, cold, inclement weather, dirt, and insects on occasions.
  • Confident and safe bike rider
