THE OPPORTUNITY:

We have a need for a Buyer. This position is ideal for the candidate interested in an active, growing, team centered, and fun environment! The position is responsible for negotiating and purchasing direct materials, ensuring purchase orders are processed in a timely and accurate manger and customer service support in accordance with the company and departmental policy and procedures. This role would be able to work fully remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Managing/Expediting purchasing and material flow of critical parts and components
• Managing Drop Ship and Special Order Processing including:
  1. Creating/processing of orders
  2. Tracking/follow up of orders
• Receives and processes requisitions from internal customer
• Create, review and update daily/weekly reports and communicate results
• Acts as liaison between supplier and staff to insure timely delivery and material requirements are met
• Utilizing ERP/MRP (JDE/Thrive/Arkieva) to maintain operations schedules as it relates to planned sales and supplier deliveries 
• Review DC/branch safety stock levels and adjust as required
• Maintain purchasing records/part and supplier master data
• Maintain supply as it relates to delivery of materials for Operations/Assembly/Kitting
• Negotiation of supplier contracts in terms of technology, cost, service, quality and delivery.
• Manage and maintain supplier rebates
• Manage and maintain supplier PPV
• Utilizing JDE to create and release po's (planned orders, drop ship, consignment) and supplier schedules for inventory items
• Establish and maintain good supplier relationships, domestically and overseas
• Resolve supplier concerns surrounding pricing, delivery dates, meeting required timing etc.
• Deliver the lowest total landed costs for each of the categories managed. 
• Working with all Transtar business units to utilize link and leverage techniques to achieve the best value and lowest landed standard cost. 
• Generates OF po’s as required for vendor returns
• Monthly tracking and quarterly publishing of supplier scorecards
• Assist with physical inventory - also tracking and entry 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor Degree in Business or Engineering is preferred, or equivalent education and experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in purchasing / sourcing as part of a Manufacturing and/or Distribution organization is preferred
• Automotive industry experience, specifically in transmission and general repair space preferred
• Previous experience using JDE/Arkieva/Thrive/Sharepoint preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Medium to Advanced MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook
• Excel - Data Analysis and Entry, Pivot Tables/V-Lookups 
• Ability to determine TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) 
• Ability to compile, read and interpret data 
• Attention to detail- Accuracy of work
• Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Understanding of requirements for adding suppliers to ASL
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to independently resolve supplier/supply related problems and forward on accurate information to others for resolution
• Works with a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to effectively work across departmental boundaries 
• Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for their specific Product Categories
• Clear understanding and embracing of who their customers are both internally and externally 
• Working knowledge of Automotive Aftermarket. (Automatic/Manual Transmissions, General Repair, Differentials, Transfer cases and components) preferred
• Understand supplier assessment requirements - preferred
