The Support Host for the Recovery Learning Center is responsible for the organization and direction of adult clients with psychiatric disabilities in acquiring and enhancing skills that will help enable them to live and work successfully in the community utilizing a trauma informed approach. This position promotes social rehabilitation, independence, wellness and recovery both inside the community and outside, to the surrounding community. The Support Host is responsible for having knowledge and skills in all aspects of the program. The Support Host will uphold and promote the program philosophy in all duties performed.
Experience and Skills:
Must have experience as a consumer of mental health services. Completion of High School or equivalent. Strong interpersonal skills and oral/written communication skills; well defined organizational and time management skills, and collaborative work style. Able to work effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression or socio-economic level. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure. Must use reasonable precautions in the performance of one’s duties and adhere to all applicable safety rules and practices while acting in such a manner as to assure at all times, maximum safety to one’s self, fellow employees, clients, and other persons contacted through TMHA business. Conditions of employment include: Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver’s License, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA’s current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance. Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees. Ability to communicate with co-workers and supervisor through emails, phone calls, zoom and face to face. Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health. Comply with a T.B. assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting. Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request an exemption based on a documented medical condition advising against the vaccine or a strongly held religious belief or practice per the California Department of Public Health. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
Hours/ Salary
Part-Time, 10 hour per week. Anticipated hiring wage is $16.00 per hour.
