Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, GL closing, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements for all California entities in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare quarterly consolidations for all California entities in accordance with GAAP.
- Review financial packages from builder partners monthly. Assist and provide feedback to builder partners' accountants when necessary.
- Actively participate in monthly project meetings with builder partners.
- Prepare various reports for management and investors.
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and cash flows by working with the operations team.
- Coordinate with external auditors during the year end audit process and prepare/provide necessary reports when requested.
- Coordinate with external tax reporting firm during the year end process, prepare/provide necessary reports, and review tax returns.
- Research and support significant accounting and financial reporting matters impacting the business to the Director of Finance.
- Prepare other ad-hoc projects.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
- Certified Public Accountant designation is required.
- 5-10 years of accounting experience, ideally within the real estate industry.
- Experience at a public accounting firm is a plus.
- Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures.
- Experience preparing or reviewing U.S. partnership tax returns.
- Experience working with JD Edwards/Oracle is a plus.
