Job description
Engineer in Training will assist the District Engineer for Chambers County Improvement District #1 (CCID1) with the following:
General
1. Need to be a very versatile employee. Not be afraid of new/unknown engineering related tasks.
2. Assist reviewing all onsite development project plans inside CCID1 and help confirm they meet district requirements and tie into district facilities.
Engineering
1. Must be able to read and review construction drawings.
2. Review proposals, evaluate costs, scope, and schedule. Discuss any recommended changes to District Engineer.
3. Assist in reviewing all design projects meet the standard design criteria for the District. If there is a variance, make sure it is acceptable to the District Engineer.
Permitting
1. Help coordinate and get approvals from Chambers County, City of Baytown, TXDOT, USACE, or any other applicable governmental entity for approval of plans, permit, construction, etc.
Bidding
1. Coordinate with District Engineer on bidding process, advertisement, pre bid meeting, bid due date, etc. with all design engineers.
2. Review bid documents with District Engineer.
3. Assist reviewing schedule requirements are met for advertisement, pre bid meeting, addendums, bid due date, and district board award.
4. Review IFB drawings with District Engineer before they are uploaded to CivCast to ensure accuracy and standards met.
5. Review construction contract items including LDs, substantial and final completion duration before they are uploaded to CivCast.
Construction
1. Perform periodic construction observation in field for all district projects.
2. Ensure construction meets all engineering criteria including: drawings, engineer notes, geotech, survey, etc.
3. Notify District Engineer of any construction compliance issues and assist confirming they are addressed.
