ABOUT THE CANDIDATE / ROLE 

Tradewind Aviation is seeking a Safety Program Manager to join our growing team. The Safety Program Manager reports to the Director of Safety and Regulatory Compliance. This role is primarily responsible for supporting Tradewind Aviation’s Safety Management System through working with department managers within Tradewind Aviation to develop and maintain their individual departments participation in the Safety Management System . Along with the Director of Safety and Regulatory Compliance, the Safety Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of any new programs in response to the needs of the company pertaining to the Safety Management System. Particular emphasis is placed on data entry, tracking, and trending irregularities and identified hazards that might be precursors to an aircraft accident or incident, damage event, or team member injury.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Tradewind Safety Management System program under the guidance of the Director of Safety and Regulatory Compliance
  • Monitor and track completion of Team Member safety training
  • Collaborate with departmental subject matter experts to produce quality analyses and deliverables and contributes to required reporting from each program
  • Assist with company Safety Risk Management processes, included but not limited to safety report processing with Department Process Owners and Change Management processing
  • Assist with company Safety Assurance processes, to include Internal Evaluation Program departmental evaluations and safety evaluations
  • Maintain Emergency Response Plan, including scheduled drills 
  • Support and conduct data analysis to provide in-depth insight into underlying contributing factors to data trends; interfaces with operating departments team members to ensure analysis objectives and Company data needs are met
  • Prepare factual and statistically sound analyses, reports, and briefings on safety trends and issues identified through the programs
  • Acquire, analyze, and input data in support of communications, reports, and newsletter articles
  • Provide Safety Program data input to support Tradewind’s Management Review Board (MRB) and relevant Risk Working Groups (RWGs)
  • Participate in airline industry safety conferences, groups, and associations to include domestic and international travel
  • Processes and inputs data for operational workgroup voluntary safety reporting programs. This entails data collection, assessment, analysis, and report processing for Safety Action Programs (ASAP) and Voluntary Disclosure Report Program 
  • Collect information to facilitate event investigation and root cause analysis. Investigatory efforts will include, but not be limited to, conducting team member interviews, soliciting and reviewing written statements/reports, and researching technical reports and documents
  • Assist with third-party audits of Tradewind Aviation, as requested
  • Assist with training and on-going use of Document Control Process for all departments
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Safety 

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in aviation or a related field; OR equivalent experience and certification in aviation safety management 
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Working knowledge of regulations and standards governing commercial aviation (ICAO, FAA, NTSB, IOSA) and those governing aviation safety, security
  • Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 5 and Safety Management System (SMS) principles and applications
  • Ability to learn and understand new software in detail
  • Valid US Driver’s License Clean Driving Record
  • Valid passport without travel restrictions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year relevant aviation industry experience in safety 
  • Graduate-level coursework in aviation, aviation safety, or a related field 
  • Ability to conduct or support data and/or statistical analyses to provide meaningful and actionable insight that improve Tradewind Aviation’s safety performance
  • Experience and/or training in Human Factors, aviation safety investigations, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Formal safety management training, accident investigation training, or prior analyst experience working within a 14 CFR Part 121 or Part 135 Safety Investigations or ASAP program
