Job Title: Bilingual (Japanese) Maintenance Supervisor

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Assistant Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist Department Manager/Assistant Manager in establishing and meeting department annual targets and objectives.
• Direct workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment
• Assist workers in diagnosing machinery and equipment malfunctions.
• Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
• Approves the ordering of spare parts.
• Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
• Interpret company policies for workers and enforce safety regulations.
• Establish or adjust work procedures to meet maintenance schedules.
• Recommend measures to improve equipment performance and quality of product.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
• Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
• Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
• Maintain time and production records.
• Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
• Effectively facilitate conversation and communication between Japanese speaking individuals and English-speaking individuals.
• Interpret for daily meetings assisting with communication between executives and staff.
• Able to grasp a deep familiarity with the meaning of phrases, a thorough understanding of Japanese culture and terminology, and the ability to provide simultaneous interpretation.
• Understands and follows the ISO 14001 Environmental System
• Understands and follows the ISO IATF / 16949 Quality Management System
• Understands and follows the Safety Management System

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree in an industrial maintenance related field and three years industry work experience or three years’ experience as an industrial maintenance report person plus two years of industrial related supervisory experience.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing this job. When performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to humid condition, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles. Protective equipment will be provided in work areas whenever required. The noise level is moderate with higher noise levels in some areas always requiring hearing protection.
