Traction Ag seeks a driven, experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team. You will provide team leadership. You will mentor, grow, and develop a team of passionate technical professionals to support Traction's strategic goals and mission. In addition, you will collaborate with product management and other company leaders to develop our software engineering strategy, define standards, and implement modern cloud solutions and processes.

Software Engineering Manager Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive excellence in software development practice while leading a distributed team of high-performing engineers responsible for building enterprise-level solutions and services.

• Provide leadership, setting a positive tone, creating a sense of community, and shared purpose, goals, and objectives.

• Lead multi-functional projects through close collaboration with others within Traction on security, tools, architecture, planning, and delivery of projects.

• Provide technical leadership for the development of new software services

• Communicate updates, opportunities, accomplishments, challenges, and failures to internal stakeholders.

• Conduct performance reviews for the software engineering team.

• Recruit, hire, promote, retain, and mentor staff, providing opportunities, feedback, and growth opportunities to ensure staffing aligns with company needs.

• Lead agile software development life cycle (Scrum) meetings and ceremonies.

Skills and Qualifications

• This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus 8 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience working with object-oriented design and programming; Python 2/3 required, Node.js a Plus

• Experience with relational databases; Preferably PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy

• Experience with distributed computing based in a cloud computing environment; AWS

• Experience with messaging queues; Kafka, Redis a plus

• Experience developing single-page applications using frontend frameworks; Angular, AngularJS and React

• Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the complete software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
