JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health Professional reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing mental health clinical services to clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide high-quality, therapeutic, wellness and recovery oriented, direct therapy services (individual, family, group treatment, case management, and consultation) in the clinic and in the community as necessary to a caseload of clients with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) and dual-diagnosis individuals.
  2. Document services to meet all clinical program, county, and state requirements, including Short-Doyle/Medi-Cal requirements, noting significant intervention and progress toward development and attainment of a treatment plan.
  3. Maintain and submit all documentation and billing as it relates to client services.
  4. Meet with clinical mental health services staff for the purpose of reviewing client progress and to assure quality treatment planning.
  5. Provide direction to Treatment Team to ensure they are familiar with and understand the clients Plan of Care and work in collaboration with the client.
  6. Follow all reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.
  7. Review client files at discharge for completion, making written notes of findings, and review findings with counseling staff for the purpose of quality assurance.
  8. Attend and participate in staff meetings and on-site staff training.
  9. Communicate closely, in a systematic fashion, with agencies and significant others involved in the rehabilitation of consumers.
  10. Provide the Program Director with timely reports on any unusual occurrences that might impact the overall program operation or the health and safety of clients or employees.
  11. Complete the minimum 40 hours training annually per Turning Point training requirements.
  12. Will drive on company business and transport consumers as needed.
  13. Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  14. Physical presence in the office is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Licensed Preferred: Currently licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Clinical Psychologist (LCP), with at least two (2) years' post licensure experience.
  2. Masters: A Master’s degree in behavioral health science with current registration as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) or an Associate Social Worker (ASW).
  3. Must be registered with Board of Behavioral Science (BBS).
  4. Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR.
  5. Knowledge of best practices regarding the treatment of clients with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) and Dual-Diagnosis individuals.
  6. Knowledge of record keeping procedures related to patient charts and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  7. Experience with co-occurring substance use disorders and treatment modalities.
  8. Communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
  9. Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
  10. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  11. Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required. 
  12. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  13. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR BILINGUAL SKILL

  1. Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.
  2. Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes.
  3. Assist with phone calls for Spanish clients.
  4. Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
  5. Minimal adequate competency in the Spanish language as evidenced by successful passage of the TPOCC Spanish Competency Test.
  6. Other translation tasks as required.

    • Monolingual/Masters: Class 162 ($66,647.89 - $77,968.6/annually)
    • Bilingual/Masters: Class 167 ($67,353.47 - $81,945.79/annually) *Updated effective 1/1/24
    • Monolingual/Licensed: Class 172 ($68,066.52 - $86,125.86/annually) *Updated effective 1/1/24
    • Bilingual/Licensed: Class 177 ($68,787.12 - $90,519.16/annually)
