TPC is Hiring a Sr. Buyer, Procurement Near Houston, TX

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, develops and deploys procurement strategies for leveraging commodities used at all company facilities using highly effective sourcing processes that include effective market analysis, purchase planning, coordination with clients, supplier qualification and selection, order placement, and follow-up. Establishes, maintains, and utilizes client and vendor networks to ensure the timely and cost effective acquisition of required commodities. Validates that all purchases are aligned with overall category management needs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and deploys the procurement strategy for leveraging and/or technically complex commodities and/or major projects for sites
  • Responsible for executing complex local, regional, and national purchase agreements as well as managing their effective administration
  • Ensures accurate definition of requirements, negotiates purchase agreements, establishes and maintains an effective procurement system consistent with company control guidelines
  • Interacts regularly with technically oriented internal and external customers to communicate and/or negotiate complex contract issues
  • Establishes and utilizes a site support network for timely acquisition of site managed materials and services while achieving best overall value
  • Key liaison with the manufacturing/business/commercial organizations to insure continuity of supply consistent with operations planning and production schedules
  • Accountable for cost savings and avoidances through effective contract negotiation, strategic sourcing process utilization and contract leakage control.
  • Responsible for coordination between strategic buyers and internal clients to ensure that contract requirements and strategies effectively executed
  • Mentors transactional buyers in technical competencies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain, financial, or engineering curriculum preferred
  • Five years’ experience (minimum of 10 years required in lieu of a degree) in procurement, materials management, manufacturing, or commercial business processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPSM or CPIM certification desired
  • Effective project leadership, teamwork, communication, writing, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills including strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and good understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning applications
  • A strong desire to work in a highly transformational environment that allows rapid personal growth and has a significant opportunity for advancement
  • Non-durable goods manufacturing experience is desirable
  • Strong conceptual ability and highly developed analytical skills
  • Excellent influence management skills and the ability to (directly and indirectly) engage diverse people across multiple disciplines
  • Proven presentation and communication skills
