Lifeguard The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department seeks qualified individuals to fill Lifeguard positions. Lifeguards are responsible for surveying a body of water and conducting rescues to help weak or injured swimmers get to safety. Their duties include speaking with swimmers to enforce swimming rules, keeping track of each swimmer in the water and administering first aid to injured swimmers.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled hoursRegularly treat the pool with the correct amount of chemicals Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shiftDirecting swimmers out of water in dangerous conditionsEnforce rules and regulations at the pool.Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safeOrganizing and overseeing daily pool operationsProviding swim lessons when applicableMaintaining a clean pool environmentSubmit reports as required and keep recordsRender First-Aid when necessary in view of Department PolicyResponsible to the Department Director/Recreation Supervisor, and directly to the Aquatics Director and/or Pool ManagerShift: 11:30AM to 7:30PM or as assigned by the Aquatics Director. This position is seasonal (June 21, 2024 through August 18, 2024).Salary: The salary range for this position is $17.00 per hour.
