Job Description Summary

The Town of Southern Pines is a growing service-oriented community with a population of approximately 16,000, seeking qualified candidates for a progressive and professional CALEA Nationally Accredited Police Department. The Southern Pines Police Department is a highly trained, professional organization.

The Telecommunicator position(s) facilitates open communications with the public, response to emergency calls and requests for assistance, dispatch of Town of Southern Pines law enforcement resources as necessary, and coordination of agency resources. The Telecommunicator receives routine and emergency calls for assistance/information, enters calls for service into a Computer-Aided Dispatch computer and dispatches police department personnel to answer requests for assistance. The Telecommunicator operates a computer terminal connected to the Division of Criminal Information and National Crime Information Center to obtain information, and provides that information when necessary and authorized to units in the field.

The Southern Pines Police Department offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package to include:

Telecommunicators currently work a 4 on/4 off 12-hour shift. Successful applicants must pass a physical, drug test, comprehensive criminal background investigation and psychological testing. Successful applicants will be certified by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission.
