GENERAL PURPOSE
Manages the operations of the jail facilities for the Town of Pecos City Municipal Criminal Justice Center. Supervises personnel and manages the budget and inmates. Responsible for and exercising command over the functions of the Detention Division of the Pecos Police Department.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Reports to the Chief of Police.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance through the assistance of other supervisors or administrators, including making final decisions in hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
1.- High School Diploma/General Equivalency (GED)-required.
3.- Degree in Criminal Justice (preferred) or related field.
4.- Municipal Jailer Training through TEEX-passing all components of training.
5.- Minimum of five years of correctional supervisory experience is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 21 years of age and have previous experience in the correctional setting.
Obtain Jail Administrator Certification within 1 year.
Basic knowledge of PREA requirements, audits, and reports.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, Jail Management Software, 10-key calculator, phone, copy machine, fax machine, radio, handcuffs, handgun, rifle, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, crawl, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work is generally performed inside buildings including but not limited to confined spaces, open fields, residential and commercial structures. The noise level in the fieldwork environment is typically moderate.
