Under supervision of the Town Supervisor, performs administrative and clerical accounting work of routine difficulty in support of the functions within the Supervisor’s Office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Administrative Assistant 20%
Answering phones, welcoming and assisting visitors, preparing agendas and written correspondence, maintaining files, scanning, office management, and vendor relations.
· Payroll and Human Resources 50%
All aspects of biweekly payroll processing in Paychex including but not limited to the Administration of Civil Service, Teamsters, Health Insurance, NYS Deferred Compensation, and NYS Retirement.
· Accounts Payable 20%
Assist with processing Vouchers and Purchase Orders, maintenance of W-9 files, updating worksheets in excel, processing of bimonthly abstract, printing of checks, and uploading positive pay files.
· Cash Receipts 10%
Assist with recording of cash receipts and making deposits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Graduation from high school or the equivalent
· Two (2) years of clerical experience involving payroll or bookkeeping.
· Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Paychex, and office equipment.
SKILLS
· Excellent problem solving skills, independent thinking, and self-motivation.
· General knowledge of accounting terminology, practices, methods, and systems used in municipal government.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; accurately enter data and proofread materials.
