The Town of Clayton is seeking applicants for a Cultural Arts Intern for the Cultural Arts Department. The Town of Clayton employs more than 300 full-time staff in areas including police, fire, and electric utilities. The Town of Clayton also offers a range of PT positions including positions in Parks & Rec, Library, and Cultural Arts.

The purpose of the Cultural Arts Internship is to gain hands-on experience in front of house and technical crew support, resulting in the ability to lead all facets of event management.
  • Receive guests in a friendly manner

  • Respond courteously to rental clients and other employees

  • Assist with set up and break down of events

  • Provide support to lead tech and lead event staff

  • Artist/Performer load in and stage set up

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identification of the various roles that are required for event management

  • Expert in standard hospitality expectations

  • Flexibility with the wide range of event/rental timeframes

  • Understanding next steps before being told by a leader

  • Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES:

  • Candidates for this internship should possess a basic knowledge of event support/management and technical abilities; possess the ability to work with large groups of people; be student minded

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School or College student.

  • Experience in theater productions, school drama productions, assembly (church) audio/lighting/tech team preferred.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 16 years or older by the internship start date.

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Set hours will be arranged with direct reporting supervisor for the 2024 summer internship.

When a salary range is posted, the actual salary will be based on relevant competencies, knowledge, skills & abilities, internal equity and budgetary considerations pertinent to the advertised position.
