The Chief Development Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the University’s development strategies in support of the mission and vision. This includes overseeing the university’s fundraising, alumni relations, community outreach and serving as a member of the President’s cabinet working closely with all members.

1. Develop, implement, manage, and monitor a strategic plan for fundraising activities including annual giving, endowment, and capital campaigns, planned giving, as well special events and communications that build relationships with constituency base.
1.1. Serve as lead development officer, managing short-and long-term university development plans. 1.2. Manage all strategies and activities for donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
1.3. Maintain contact with and develop grant proposals for foundations and corporations.
1.4. Develop a comprehensive planned-giving program.
1.5. Develop and maintain positive relationships with alumni, focusing effort toward and/or developing proposals for potential donors and hosting/sponsoring recognition presentations to key donors.
2. Cultivate, advance, and maintain long-term relationships with donors, and coordinate solicitation, receipt, and management of private gifts to the university.
2.1. Provide research, event, prospect management and stewardship support for the university. 2.2. Coordinate development-related volunteer boards and activities.
2.3. Build and strengthen relationships with Advisory Board members.
3. Promote a positive image and positive external relations for the University.
3.1. Develop strategies to support the University’s image and reputation.
3.2. Oversee the planning, organization, direction, and coordination of all aspects of Touro University Nevada’s fundraising initiatives.
3.3. Provide overall leadership in development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive alumni relations program that inspires increased alumni engagement and support of the University.
4. Develop, implement, manage, and administer an overall strategic plan and annual budget for the Development Office.
4.1. Review and approve unit plans, goals, and objectives; design systems of effective controls to guide work toward expected outcomes and evaluating progress towards their accomplishment. Monitor, develop and evaluate staff performance in meeting goals and objectives.
4.2. Establish clearly defined goals, objectives, timeframes and metrics for fundraising including annual giving, endowment, and capital campaigns, planned giving, as well as special events and communications that build relationships with the University’s various constituents.
4.3. Provide oversight and responsibility for all Development budgets including coordinating the development of the annual budget, monitoring expenditures, approving expenses and retaining authority over all departmental budgets within the Office of Development.
4.4. Develop policies and procedures for effective, ethical operations of the Development Office
4.5. Act as a clearing house for all fundraising activities among student clubs/organizations.
5. Represent the University with community organizations and at community functions as needed.
5.1. Liaison with Touro system development/advancement officials regularly and represent Touro University Nevada in system-wide advancement/communications planning.
5.2. Advise the Provost and Campus President, President’s Cabinet, and members of the Advisory Board on issues relating to the University development and advancement by delivering presentations at meetings and preparing reports, recommendations, findings and other correspondence as required.
5.3. Serves a leadership role as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
5.4. Member on various University committees, as directed by the Provost and Campus President.
