Description

Toth & Associates, Inc. (TOTH) is currently seeking an onsite, experienced GIS Specialist to join our GIS department. We are searching for an energetic, resourceful team member who thrives in an atmosphere with many active and high-priority projects. This professional should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task. Strong computer skills and a capacity to learn about new technologies are a must.

The GIS Specialist is responsible for a variety of activities including creation and maintenance of geospatial data, GIS geodatabase editing, data conversion, compilation, evaluation, querying, processing, analysis, creating high quality cartographic products, personal quality control, and data/process documentation (metadata creation). This position is responsible for assisting many departments within the company, including GIS, Electric Transmission and Distribution Design, Electric Planning, Grants, Civil Engineering, Survey, and Land Services, as well as multiple clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with Esri ArcGIS Pro software, ArcGIS Online, ArcMap 10.8.1 & Google Earth Pro.
  • Convert data to Esri GIS format.
  • Create and maintain GIS geodatabases; edit tabular and geometric data.
  • Create high quality maps and other GIS-related products with ArcGIS Pro.
  • Create, publish, and maintain ArcGIS Online maps.
  • Correct errors within GIS data.
  • QC: Perform high-level manual and/or visual review of preliminary data and final products to ensure usability and accuracy of all data entering the system.
  • Focus with detail and accuracy on quality in all aspects of the job.
  • Multi-task, manage time constraints, and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology and GIS functionality.
  • Participate in local professional group meetings, online professional discussions, stay informed of new trends and innovations in the field of GIS, database design, and related hardware/software.

Qualifications


Required Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS or Geography or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in GIS
  • Proficient with Esri ArcGIS Pro
  • Strong skills in the principles of cartography, including coordinate systems and projections, map composition and symbology.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment on projects with project engineers and other employees both in person and virtually.
  • Ability to think analytically and solve problems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail while completing tasks to meet aggressive project schedules.

Additional Skills and Experience (preferred but not required):

  • GISP Certification
  • Proficient with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, and/or ArcGIS Field Maps
  • Private sector GIS experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic relational database knowledge
  • Familiarity with using SQL geodatabases.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD .dwgs within ArcGIS software and converting data.
  • Experience using Google Earth
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution and/or transmission systems
  • Working knowledge of electric or water/wastewater/storm water utility GIS models
  • Knowledge of Python/ArcPy
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center
  • Familiarity with legal descriptions including easement descriptions.
  • Experience with field data collection
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
