Total Safety is Hiring a Fire Sprinkler/ Deluge Designer Near Pasadena, TX

Total Safety is looking for an Industrial Fire Protection Designer to join their safety conscious team! The Industrial Fire Protection Designer Designs Fire Protection Systems per applicable codes, standards, and Customer specifications using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Work includes generating submittal and construction drawings, detail drawings, fire protection system calculations, system operating sequences, and stock/material/equipment lists as necessary for review by Authorities Having Jurisdiction and to support fabrication, construction, and installation of the systems. Work also includes performing other design and consultation duties as needed.

Essential Duties:

Create detailed drawings with limited input from customers or field.

Perform calculations as required by codes and/or manufacturer instructions.

Select components to meet customer needs, specifications, and applications.

Work closely with the Total Safety engineering staff, Construction Manager, Project Managers, Sales, and other discipline engineers and designers.

Create and maintain fire protection CAD / modeling standards.

Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers.

Assists others as needed.

Skills and Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in fire protection design in petrochemical, oil refinery or related industrial applications.

Must have a minimum of 3 years of AutoSPRINK and AutoCAD experience.

Must be able to acquire and maintain licenses and certifications necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.

Must be able to travel.

Must be able to obtain TWIC card and pass any required safety testing, including classes such as Basic Plus, OSHA 10 hour, etc.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and other data base software.

Proficiency with AutoCAD. Proficiency with other design software, such as HydraCAD and/or 3D modelling programs is desired.

Must demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, an unwavering commitment to safety and health and other company policies and procedures.

Must possess high ethical standards demonstrated by their approach to business.

Must demonstrate leadership and the ability to coordinate resources to achieve maximum profitability, efficiency, and utilization.

Must be able to prepare accurate, effective, complete, and easily understood written communications and reports.

Proficiency in the care and use of all sites specific, facility and customer required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment (Fit Tested).

Working Environment:

Combination of office, shop, indoor and outdoor industrial environments. May be frequently exposed to cold, hot, wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration. Works in customer environment. May be exposed to high pressure, chemicals, and traffic. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Educational Requirements:

Two-year certificate from college or technical school in related course work required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. NICET Level I or II certification in the fire protection field of application is also preferred and an expectation to pursue further professional development by obtaining additional NICET accreditation and/or State licensing.
