Job Description

Torch Technologies, an employee-owned defense contractor, is looking for skilled Systems Architects with a range of experience levels to join a highly capable team tackling aircraft survivability equipment (ASE) challenges in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, technical capabilities, and a record of accomplishments working with ASE systems and aviation platforms.

This position is in anticipation of a contract award with the ASE program office.

Job Responsibilities

  • Understand and design complex integrated aircraft survivability equipment systems.
  • Define and Implement software requirements and standards, coding standards, tools, and development platforms for complex ASE systems.
  • Perform cost–benefit analyses to determine the best methods or approaches for meeting the hardware and software requirements; making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components and software.
  • Generate hardware and software acceptance test requirements.
  • Design, test and integrate software applications into an aviation system.
  • Define hardware requirements and standards, interfaces standards, tools, and development platforms for complex ASE systems
  • Define and Implement a robust hardware architecture for ASE systems.
  • Define partitioning algorithms to allocate present and future hardware requirements
Job Requirements

Desired Technical Expertise

  • Open System Standards (i.e., Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA), Hardware Open Systems Technologies (HOST), Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS), Open VPX, and DO 254, MIL-STDs (461, 704, and 810)).
  • Open systems, hardware architecture, software applications, systems interfaces, systems and software qualification standards, systems and software program protection standards, systems processing capabilities, input/output requirements, and system power requirements.
  • Aviation and missile threats: functions, detection, acquisition, identification, discrimination, position determination, guidance, and integration of threat sensors. Desired expertise includes system safety, concept generation, simulation, design, experimentation, and evaluation.
  • Ultraviolet (UV), Infrared (IR), and Radio Frequency (RF) technologies for sensor systems.
  • Missile, laser, and RF warning systems; RF jamming; flare, chaff, and laser countermeasures; countermeasure hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Avionics and data bus communication systems, navigation system interfaces, secure communications systems, and cockpit threat display configurations including electrical load analysis, antennae surveys, and electromagnetic interfaces.
