Tops Staffing has a great contract to hire opportunity with a client located on Petersburg, VA. Our client is just finishing up building their new shop and has a need to hire an overhead crane operator.
This position will involve loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing trucks. Stacking and staging materials inside the facility during processing. Will also involve staging orders using a bill of materials list.

Job Details:
- Contract to hire opportunity
- Afternoon shift Monday to Friday schedule
- Hours: 3pm to 11pm - Must be able to train on daylight for 1 to 2 months 7am to 3pm schedule
- Some overtime is available in this position.
- Starting pay rate of $17 per hour while working on contract to hire; company offers a profit sharing program once hired on directly that will add a $1000 to $1500 bonus each month to your pay check depending on how the company is performing.
- Unloading trucks
- Loading out going trucks
- Staging materials in facility during processing.
- Stacking materials in warehouse for storage
- Staging orders for pick up
- Running forklift
- Running overhead cranes – Remote overhead crane
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years of warehouse experience is preferred
- Overhead crane operation experience is preferred but not required willing to do some training Must be ok with working in and outside – have to go in and out of the warehouse to load and unload trucks from time to time.Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing
- Extensive Walking - This is in a big warehouse and you have to follow the pieces you are moving with the crane up up and down the building as you move them
- Bend, Crawl, Kneel and sometimes climb to perform rigging of loads to move with crane.
- Push/ pulling of loaded carts occasionally
- Ability to work steady off shift hours
