Description

POSITION: Buyer II

DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Supply Chain Manager

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB STATUS: Full-Time, Monday Friday, 6:00AM 2:30PM

JOB PURPOSE

The Buyer II is responsible for learning about the products we sell and the products we purchase. The Buyer II will have direct contact with Tool Gauge suppliers and will negotiate the cost of supplies, goods, and services.

The Buyer II will place orders based on ERP system requirements, or as requested by supervision, and will help find potential sources as assigned. They will be responsible for managing and monitoring purchase orders for on-time delivery, conformity, and completeness, and will work with the appropriate internal and external departments to resolve discrepancies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Check requisitions for completeness and clarity and obtain necessary missing information when required.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships and lines of communication with vendors.

  • Ensure that the best available lead-time and pricing are achieved by negotiating prices, discount terms, and/or transportation arrangements with suppliers.

  • Examine, select, order, or purchase merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, or other factors, to meet customer needs.

  • Monitor and analyze sales records, trends, or economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns, company sales, and needed inventory.

  • Manage and monitor all open purchase orders, alerting management of any issues or concerns.

  • Authorize payment of invoices or return of merchandise.

  • Collaborate with the necessary Tool Gauge department/staff to identify, research, and obtain desired products and ensure products are delivered in a timely manner.

  • Proactively monitor and manage suppliers and deliveries.

  • Inspect merchandise or products to determine quality, value, or yield.

  • Mentor and cross-train Buyer I and supply chain team on best practices.

  • Consult with Supply Chain Manager about budgets and goods to be purchased.

  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining proper inventory levels.

The Buyer II, as an employee of Tool Gauge & Machine Works, Inc., is expected to collaborate, engage, and support the company’s Mission, Vision, and Quality Policy, as well as be an ambassador of the company culture The Tool Gauge Way.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Knowledge of the aerospace industry and familiarity with Boeing material specifications preferred.

  • Focused on innovation, being pro-active, and a problem-solver who thinks outside of the box who brings a positive attitude, high level of energy and enjoys mentoring and supporting your team with best practices.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, with focus in supply chain, procurement, finance, or similar field, and a minimum of six months experience, or

  • Three (3) years of previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing industry.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication skills, and ability to work well within a team and cross-functionally with other departments.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
