JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Inspector I (Plastics)

REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

JOB STATUS: Full Time

SHIFT: Monday Thursday, 06:00 16:30

WAGE: $20.00 - $28.00 hourly (5620N/5610N)

JOB Purpose:

To determine whether product conforms to the engineering definition. This role works in support of a production department to inspect product and report results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow the company’s quality management system and encourage others to do the same.
  • Uphold the tool gauge fundamentals in all aspects of job performance.
  • Retrieve, read, and interpret engineering definition.
  • Determine appropriate measurement methods.
  • Inspect product visually and using measurement equipment.
  • Record inspection results in company business software.
  • Document nonconformances for material review board.
  • Coordinate with, and communicate inspection results to, corresponding production lead(s).

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Sharing knowledge and quality concepts with other employees

KnowLedge, Skills & Abilities:

Required:

  • Understanding of, and ability to interpret, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong reading comprehension and understanding of basic mathematics
  • An analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • An interest in creativity and problem solving
  • Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Diligent time management practices
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to be effective and successful when working as part of a team
  • Autonomy and drive to deliver results independently
  • A desire to investigate, be challenged, learn, and make improvements
  • A habit of maintaining a clean and organized work environment

Preferred:

  • Proficiency with manufacturing or enterprise resource planning software
  • Experience using measurement equipment (e.g. calipers, radius gauges, micrometers, height gauge)
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5) and first article inspection (AS9102)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of experience in a manufacturing environment (or equivalent education)
  • Two years of experience in a quality assurance role, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred
