JOB TITLE: Pharmacy Certified Tech

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

PURPOSE

Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer satisfaction. Assist the pharmacist in maintaining the clean and orderly appearance of the pharmacy area, prioritizing work, and processing prescription orders in compliance with Federal and State laws, physician orders and company policies and procedures. Assists pharmacist in operational functions to include inventory management, third party administration, coordination of workflow functions, and legal compliance.

Accountable and Reports to: Pharmacy Manager/Head Pharmacist, Staff Pharmacist, Store Director, Asst. Store Director

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer satisfaction by exhibiting care, concern and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.

• Smiles and greets customers in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the associate’s designated department or elsewhere in the store.

• Genuinely thanks each customer and invites them to return.

• Assists customers by: (examples include)

o escorting them to the products they’re looking for (when possible)

o securing products that are out of reach

o loading or unloading heavy items

o making note of and passing along customer suggestions or requests

o performing other tasks in every way possible to enhance the shopping experience.

• Under the supervision of the pharmacist, takes all steps required to accurately fill the prescription in compliance with all laws, regulations, physician orders and company policies and procedures regarding the sale of pharmaceuticals.

• Assists Pharmacy Manager/Head Pharmacist in coordinating workflow functions and workstations to insure adequate pharmacy coverage and customer service levels.

• Prioritizes workflow activities; performs and follows defined workflow procedures as legally allowable.

• Maintains inventory control procedures; orders product from appropriate sources; assists with preparation for physical inventory.

• Assists in pharmacy returns, regularly reviews pharmacy stock for recalled, outdated and overstocked product.

• Orders product from distribution center or other appropriate source; processes non-control drug orders including check in when required.

• Orders vials, bottles, bags, and supplies for pharmacy.

• Maintains a professional and friendly manner with all patients when responding to their requests or when necessary referring them to the pharmacists in accordance with Greet, Offer and Thank (GOT) guidelines.

• Answers the phone promptly and courteously; refers phone requests from physicians, patients, and others which require a pharmacist’s knowledge, to the pharmacists.

• Accepts the written prescription or refill information from patients confirms completeness of patient record and requests missing information as appropriate, and retrieves the patient’s pharmacy record(s) for verification by the pharmacists.

• Applies basic prescription reading skills to the written prescription upon data entry. Basic prescription reading skills include: dosage form differentiation, directions, pharmacy calculations and product recognition.

• Accesses the pharmacy computer to obtain complete patient record (on both cash and third party prescriptions) and verifies third party parameters.

• Accurately inputs, accesses, processes, and retrieves data from the pharmacy computer, including speed codes and drug interaction data, as state laws permit.

• Directs professional inquiries to the pharmacist.

• Where allowed by law, informs the patient of the availability of generic alternative products.

• Maintains proper organization of product in each bay and at each counter in regards to established company

COVID-19 considerations:
To keep everyone safe plastic shields have been installed to maintain distance with patients; masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers are provided as well. In addition, as a precaution and in order to keep employee,the pharmacy is cleaned at least twice daily.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

• PTCB Certification (Required)
