Tolleson Elementary School District is Hiring a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Near Tolleson, AZ

QUALIFICATIONS: (R) if required or (P) if preferred

• Community College and/or Vocational School Degree (R)

• Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License (A.R.S. § 36-1940.04) (R)

• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card (R)

• Experience in working with school age children. (R)

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills (R)

• Outstanding interpersonal skills (R)

• Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications (R)

• Skill in training and decision making (P)

• Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English) (P)

REPORTS TO: Administrator of Special Programs

JOB GOAL: To assist in the assessment of students’speech development level; implementing goals for remediation of speech and language deficits; and providing information and/or direction as may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:

• Attends meetings in the presence of supervising Speech Language Pathologist – SLP (e.g. departmental, multidisciplinary team, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.

• Conducts speech and language screenings using district approved screening instruments.

• Confers with classroom teacher for the purpose of providing requested information, implementing plans for services and/or making recommendations as directed by supervising SLP.

• Maintains various files and/or records for the purpose of providing written support and documentation required.

• Prepares materials and follows speech language lessons appropriate for individuals or small groups (e.g. speech therapy, teaching materials, etc.).

• Provides direct instructional services to students under the supervision of the SLP for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech language deficits.

• Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten months, salary according to the Academic Support Placement Schedule, Level I. Employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.

EVALUATION: This job's performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on personnel evaluation.
