The Katherine Thomas School Program serves students in grades K-12 with language and learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an immediate opportunity for a couple of full-time (10-month position) Special Education Teaching Assistants for our Middle School program. Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:

• Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
• Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules
• Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
• Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports

Required Experience:

Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:

• Must have a BA degree
• Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
• Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful
• Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly

As a condition of employment, all new hires are required to have received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. New hires must receive any additional vaccine doses in the appropriate timeframes to be considered fully vaccinated and submit weekly test results until they are fully vaccinated.
