Titan Machinery is Hiring a Payroll and Benefits Specialist Near West Fargo, ND

Overview:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is the primary administrator for the payroll and benefits processes. This position administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The position ensures that plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.

  • Administer payroll processing to include updating all pay transactions such as deductions, pay changes, commission plans/tracking, PTO balances, etc. Also provide the PTO accrual report on a quarterly basis. Data entry for all personnel transactions in the payroll system.
  • Administer benefit programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions. Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries. Gather employee data and process monthly billings and preparation of payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
  • Plan and conduct new employee onboarding to include collecting required documentation, I-9 data entry and verification, set-up in Paychex and Benetrac and maintaining employee personnel files. Coordinate the pre-employment background checks and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Administer FMLA and other leave programs to include providing and processing required documentation, following up with employees, health care and insurance providers and tracking and reporting.
  • Monitor unemployment claim status and provide documentation as needed. Reconcile and prepare government reporting requirements, including payroll tax returns, W-2 and W-3 forms, 1095-C, 5500 and DOL quarterly labor filing.
  • Create, run, maintain, and distribute routine and ad hoc reports. Propose and develop reporting and analyses that empower users to make more informed business decisions
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required:
  • 3 years of payroll or benefits HR experience
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills

  • Ability to handle and resolve frequent interpersonal conflict
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, stressful work environment
  • Ability to respond quickly, accurately, and professionally to demands and requests from customers and employees

  • Strong computer skills; Intermediate working knowledge in Excel, PowerPoint, Word; working knowledge of Microsoft Access; ability to quickly learn new systems
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
