Job Description

Timmons Group is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer II/III - Residential Land Development candidate for our Residential Land Development Group located in our Richmond, VA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• Create project designs using relevant software including Civil 3D
• Complete supporting project calculations for site hydrology, earthwork balance, utility sizing, erosion control design, and engineering cost opinions 
• Compile complete design details and plan sets for locality review & approval
• Work with the project manager to process site plan reviews, revisions and submissions leading to approvals & permits from localities, VDOT, DEQ, and other agencies
• Specify proprietary site engineering elements such as underground drainage and stormwater management systems through the use of research and manufacturing catalogs
• Create base maps, site test fits, and engineering reports for site due diligence
• Attend client and stakeholder meetings with the project manager and other team members
• Complete construction field observations, site visit reports, and conformance inspections
• Work productively in a team environment, maintaining good communication with cross-functional team members (both internal and external) throughout the project lifecycle

Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
• At least two years of experience in Land Development projects in Virginia preferred
• EIT required, PE registration is a plus
• Advanced level of working proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Working knowledge of SiteOps, Pondpack, Bluebeam, and ArcGIS are a plus
• Ideal candidates will have a solid understanding of VA state requirements for stormwater management, VRRM, and currently permitted manufactured stormwater management systems
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
