Position Details
This position will be responsible for Safely Leading a Team in Underground Fiber Placement, via Pulling and Jetting / blowing.
Tilson’s Fiber Placement Crews will be required to safely operate equipment around live utilities in the underground / telecom utility field.
The candidate must have full knowledge of underground fiber installation operations and must be a capable and proficient equipment operator.
The ideal candidate will be safety focused, customer and quality oriented, with a strong work ethic and a positive, CAN-DO attitude.
Responsibilities :
Lead by example, attitude reflects leadership. Lead through the understanding that the employees are the biggest asset Tilson has.
Motivate individuals and Team to create a positive and highly productive work environment.
Operational knowledge of a variety of fiber placement machines, including Condux, Hydraulic Assist wheels and Fiber Jetting / Blowing Equipment.
Requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction, familiarity with micro-trench / Microfiber ability to use cable placement equipment and tools, ability to identify and troubleshoot problems.
Must be able to safely coordinate equipment in and around congested neighborhoods where adults and children are present.
Safely and efficiently coordinate Tilson equipment involved in underground construction work.
Constantly communicate with crew members.
Maintain accuracy in all reporting functions.
Assist with safety events and is constantly on the lookout for changing conditions.
Ensure equipment is in proper working order and that all systems are working correctly.
Performing basic upkeep and maintenance of the equipment and communicating any equipment malfunctions or repair needs with their supervisor.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Strong work ethic and desire to be a leader.
Effective communication skills and a positive attitude.
The ability to manage and direct Placement crew.
Valid US Driver's License with no major violations in last 3 years.
Minimum 5 years Cable Placement experience.
Minimum 3 years of leading a crew.
OSHA 10 / 30.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
The ability to work safely, with or without supervision.
Must be physically capable of lifting, squatting, bending, pulling and other weight bearing activities of up to 50 lbs.
Must pass a pre-employment physical exam, DOT medical and drug screen.
Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson’s driving eligibility requirements.

Tilson leads with integrity around pay transparency; as part of the compensation plan for this position you can expect a pay range of :
$26.00 - $32.00
The range above is associated with a tiered position. Candidate offers will align with the relevant tier determined by their experience, education, and specialization, as assessed during the interview process.
