What you will do:

The IT Senior Data Engineer is part of the IT team and is responsible for delivering greater business value from Tillamook’s investments in Microsoft’s Cloud Data Warehousing resources such as Azure and Fabric. The role will handle all Data Warehouse development and maintenance tasks. Design and develop end to end data delivery solutions using Azure, Fabric and Power BI. They will oversee the work of citizen developers for data delivery needs. Moreover, it will support the development and integration of technology at Tillamook to achieve centralized, gold standard, reporting to support data driven insights at Tillamook.

Here’s a day in the life:

• Lead initiatives to champion the use of Power BI, MS Fabric and Cloud Data Warehouse solutions. This would include meeting with stakeholders, leaders, and end users to ensure product and solution adoption. In addition, this role will lead the gathering of requirements and maintaining Business Relationships to deliver on business value of proposed and implemented solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on best practices to build and maintain a secure and stable Azure Data Warehouse. Develop and communicate plans for end-to-end data delivery development, completion, and testing. Ability to work independently or collaborate with IT and business partners, manage through ambiguous situations, and flexibility to prioritize and reprioritize as business requests change.
• Lead the development, maintenance, and architectural designs for Azure Data Warehouse. Direct and validate the work of the citizen developers. Recommend and implement solutions to increase effectiveness and efficiency of BI architecture and model design to further enhance support capabilities, documentation, and reporting.
• Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data security infrastructure for cloud-based data warehouse.
• Provide day to day support to business users, including responding to issues in Jira service manager, training needs, requests for new feature development, etc. including planning, development, and delivery of content to the business
• Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining DevOps infrastructure for cloud-based data warehouse.
• Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data governance best practices for cloud-based data warehouse.
• Manage workload using Jira Software, including leveraging Agile practices to provide on-time communications, plan workload, and reporting progress during development sprints.
• Ensure reporting requirements are understood, logic definitions and source systems are defined, and documentation and review standards are met. Lead documenting requirements for changes and new requests.Document requirements, value to the business, and the mechanics of the final solution. Collaborates on requests to ensure solution requirements are well-defined and being built to optimize business value and serve business’ data needs.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, or a related field is preferred; technical training with significant related experience can be substituted for a degree.
• 7 years of IT experience with increasing responsibility and domain expertise in various cloud data warehousing solutions, including MS Fabric, Azure, GitHub, Power BI, Power Platform, Teams, and SharePoint.
• Experience in designing, developing, and delivering innovative solutions cloud data warehousing, as well as providing technical guidance, training, and leading projects with cross-functional teams.
• Understanding or experience in various coding languages such as SQL, Spark, DAX.
• Experience designing and delivering technical training to non-technical users at all levels of the organization.
• Proven business acumen and ability to simplify technical concepts into business language.
• Experience providing proactive technical recommendations.
• Required:
  • Data Visualization (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Develop both physical and logical data models using industry standard practices (e.g., Kimball methodology).
  • Experience in translating ambiguous business processes into dimensional models for reporting.
  • Data Transformation (SQL, Spark, DAX).
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployments (CI/CD) and DevOps – Ability to design and implement automated deployments and testing as well as design, implement and adhere to version control standards (Azure DevOps, GitHub).
  • Experience with Azure Tools, such as Data Factory, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Analysis Services, ML.
  • Design, implement and adhere to security model. Experience with Azure Active Directory.
  • Collaborated with business partners to gather requirements, understand business needs, and design BI solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Communicate complex technology solutions to diverse teams, such as technical, business, and management teams.
  • Experience in design and delivery of technical training to non-technical users
  • Drives innovation and develops roadmaps through modern technologies and approaches to fulfill strategic business plans.
• Preferred:
  • Experience with Python, R, YAML, C#, PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft CRM applications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Supply Chain.
  • Experience with Function Apps & Power Apps.
  • Experience with cloud computing, including SaaS, IaaS, an PaaS.
  • Experience managing/developing IT security for an enterprise.
  • Experience in On-Prem Identity (Active Directory).
  • Experience with Scrum or Agile methodology for project management.
  • Experience using JIRA.
