Team Intro
Our User Operations team is focused on bringing a world-class experience to our users. We're looking for a self-motivated data scientist to lead in deepening our understanding of our users' experience through the feedback they provide us and the way they interact with our platform. If large data sets excite you, you have a track record of creating narratives that drive action and you thrive in working through ambiguity, this is the role for you.
The Global Public Policy team’s work spans a broad and diverse range of functions and workstreams, including government affairs and government relations; product, policy, and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships; and philanthropy. The mission of the Global Public Policy team is to prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok products and to promote a political, legislative, and regulatory environment that supports growth and innovation for our business.
In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.
Responsibilities

• Be a technical and strategic partner for the Government Relations team.
• Create and maintain complex datasets involving derivative user data.
• Incorporate automation wherever possible to improve data pipelines and analyses.
• Build and maintain documentation to ensure data accessibility.
• Create business impact with data and proactively generate insights and solutions for business partners to assist the business in achieving their goals.
• Review political data with contextual knowledge

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above, major in mathematics, statistics, computer science or political science.
• 2 years working experience in data analysis, experience in applied science.
• Mastery of Python & SQL.
• 3 years of experience working in politics (campaigns or advocacy) including polling and survey development.
• Working knowledge of electoral politics at the federal and state levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB)
• Experience with a data visualization tool (e.g. Mode Analytics/Chartio/Tableau/Qlikview)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
