thyssenkrupp nucera USA Inc. is Hiring a Project Engineer (Fabrication and Construction Management Support) Near Houston, TX

About Us:

thyssenkrupp nucera is an international, market leading supplier of electrolysis technology for hydrochloric acid recycling, chlor-alkali processes and green hydrogen generation with over 50 years’ experience and 10 GW of installed electrolysis capacity. Our goal is to help shape the new era of clean energy supply with green hydrogen at an industrial scale while continuing to maintain and grow our chemical electrolysis business.

Position Overview:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting fabrication activities at subcontractors as well as construction support during installation. This position requires a skilled and versatile Project Engineer to provide essential support in the execution of project. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and implementation of projects, focusing on both fabrication and construction aspects.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Support:

  • Support all phases of project from sales support, contract finalization, engineering, procurement, fabrication, delivery, installation, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with project managers to assist in project planning and development of comprehensive project plans, emphasizing fabrication and construction strategies.
  • Support the project team in executing project activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  •  Apply multi-discipline engineering knowledge and expertise in identifying and resolving technical issues as an individual contributor, or in mobilizing engineering or project resources.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing project schedule, risks, issues, changes, and communication, especially those related to fabrication and construction.

2. Fabrication Support:

  • Work with procurement teams to identify suitable suppliers and vendors for fabrication of project components.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and agreements for fabrication work, ensuring compliance with contract and project requirements.
  • Monitor the fabrication process to ensure it aligns with project specifications and quality standards.

3. Construction Management Support:

  • Collaborate with modularization, fabrication, and construction teams to coordinate and support activities, focusing on quality and schedule.
  • Document and answer requests for information in a timely manner, coordinating responses from the project team.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with contract, project specifications, and quality standards during construction.
  • Support the monitoring of construction progress to schedule and assist in identifying and addressing deviations.
  • Produce weekly summary reports.

4. Engineering Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with project management, engineers, and project teams to facilitate the integration of fabrication and construction activities into project plans.
  • Provide technical support and expertise on fabrication and construction-related engineering issues.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among cross-functional, and international teams to achieve project goals.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain project documentation and reports related to engineering, module fabrication, and construction activities.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and updates for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in tracking progress, schedule, and project expenses related to fabrication and construction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. PE license in at least one state, with ability to be easily licensed in other states.
  •  Proven experience (3 years) in project support, with a focus on engineering, fabrication, and construction management in the industrial process industry.
  • Strong understanding of modular fabrication processes and construction methodologies.
  • Candidates should have in-depth knowledge of a particular related engineering field (for example process, electrical, or mechanical), with broad understanding of various disciplines and their interactions in industrial process projects.
  • Knowledge of optimizing engineering, supply, scope, transportation, installation, and commissioning of modular construction projects.
  • Experience in global project execution, involving entities and experts from around the world, and also personnel that may be assigned to the module yard or jobsite.
  • Proficiency in project management reporting and the ability to work with project management processes and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on documentation and reporting.
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal and communication skills for collaborative work with Client representatives, contractors installation teams, and cross-functional teams in an international business and cultural environment.
  • Business fluent in US English, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to work at heights with fall protection, climb stairs, ladders, bend, lift, stretch, stoop, push, pull, stand, and carry tools as needed to inspect machinery, equipment, piping, structures, instruments, and gauges.
  • Must be able to work at construction sites and operating industrial process plants while equipped with required PPE.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
  • Candidates will be required to take OSHA and /or site-specific safety training and tests, candidates shall possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel domestically, and internationally on business trip basis to support project execution.
