Project Engineer (Mechanical) Jobs Summary

We're hiring a seasoned Lead Project Engineer specializing in mechanical engineering, with a strong track record in managing capital projects within Refining and Petrochemicals industries. As part of the Project Management Team (PMT), you'll oversee a portfolio of Liquid-to-Chemicals (LTC) projects, ensuring they're completed safely, on time, within budget, and meeting the highest standards of integrity and compliance. Responsibilities include leading and managing the mechanical scope throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with objectives, standards, procedures, and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will possess robust technical and managerial skills, along with extensive project management experience, excellent communication abilities, and the flexibility to collaborate with cross-functional teams across various locations.

Project Engineer (Mechanical) Responsibilities

  • The Candidate will provide support in the development and execution of the Liquid-to-Chemicals (LTC) projects. The successful Candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Lead the Execution of capital projects according to the scope, schedule and budget.
  • Design or study mechanical modification to oil and gas processing, oil and gas handling and utilities facilities.
  • Execute capital projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Responsible for project development and completion: Preliminary engineering to detail designs to construction and the final and safe turnover to proponent.
  • Manage General Engineering Services (GES ) design contractor activities including the design development of project proposal that covers definition of project work scope and schedule requirements, development of detailed estimate leading to funding appropriation and approval, and Detailed Engineering.
  • Manage contractor preparation of detailed design drawings, material specifications and procurement, and/or construction bid packages.
  • Provide input to develop and prepare contracting plan and strategy for solicitation, evaluation, and award of contract for detail engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Coordinate activities and resolve issues among proponents, contractors, and other parties to allow construction activities to progress according to plan and finalize mechanical completion.
  • Review the project schedule, and coordinate and monitor the assigned project's progress, and challenge below par performance of the contractor.
  • Review and resolve day to day contractors' claims and complaints related to the assigned project (mechanical) work during construction, and ensure HSE compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance to company standards, procedures, policies, and agreed work specifications.
  • Fully understand contract documents (inclusive of appendices, drawings, and specifications), project execution plan, interface management, change management, construction sequencing, standards specifications, and project schedule, to support the project manager and/or company representative in the timely completion of project.
  • Project Reporting and implementation of company initiatives during project execution.
  • Use of company systems and tools, e.g., Sharek, CRM, and SAP.
  • Upholds engineering ethics and maintain high standards of professional behavior and conduct.

Project Engineer (Mechanical) Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from a recognized and approved program; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in project management field executing capital projects in Refining and Petrochemical industries, such that the incumbent is clearly recognized as an expert in this field.
  • Seven (7) years' experience working as mechanical engineer supporting capital projects in design, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and operation with values ranging from $500MM to $billion.
  • Must have PMP, PgMP or equivalent certification.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) and, presentation, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Must have Engineering Design & Construction phase experience with knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles in the applicable International Engineering Codes, Standards and Specifications.
  • Must have International experience along with experience working on large complex projects.
  • Dynamic attitude towards project improvements and savings.
  • Ability to work in a diverse working environment, with multinational teams, and mobilize to different locations, both domestically and internationally, including remote areas as needed.
