The Construction Cost Accounting Clerk plays a vital role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of our construction projects. This position is responsible for accurately recording and reconciling all construction-related financial transactions, ensuring compliance with budget allocations, and maintaining up-to-date cost reports. The clerk will collaborate closely with project managers and procurement teams to track expenditures and optimize cost efficiency across all projects. Additionally, this role involves processing payments to vendors and subcontractors, managing invoices, and providing financial insights that contribute to strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of accounting principles relevant to the construction industry.

Responsibilities:

• Process and pay all invoices related to the construction process on a timely basis.
• Maintain accurate financial records and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
• Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to ensure that purchases are authorized and documented correctly.
• Prepare financial reports related to accounts payables for weekly review by the finance department.
• Assist in month-end closing procedures, ensuring all costs are accounted for and ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information.
• Communicate with suppliers and contractors to resolve any invoice or payment discrepancies.
• Participate in financial audits and implement improvements to the accounts payable process.
• Perform special projects as needed.
• Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality of all financial data.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in all aspects of general bookkeeping.
• Familiarity with accounting software and data entry.
• The ability to work with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Quickbooks. Willingness to learn industry-specific software.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to function well in a team environment.
• Knowledge of the home building industry and its specific financial needs is a plus.
• High school diploma required; associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
