Responsibilities:
Performs procedure as ordered and obtain images according to written protocols.
Ensure patient procedure and supply charges are correct.
Prepare radioactive drugs and administer them to the patient, and monitors the patient
Explain medical procedures to the patient and answer any questions . Obtain and record accurate patient history.
Cleans and monitors equipment and report equipment problem/failure to Department Leader
Performs and documents quality control on equipment according to manufacture guidelines or department protocols
Maintains yearly competency, mandatory education, professional certification, state licensure, and education requirements.
Receives, handle, store, prepare and administers radio pharmaceuticals to patients according to prescribe dose or protocol and in compliance with QMP.
Applies knowledge of department QMP, NRC and State rules, and radiation safety principles to ensure patient and staff safety for radiation protection to achieve radiation exposure ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable), for patients, self and others.
Requirements
Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and state certification, as applicable
Must be a graduate of an approved nuclear medicine program
