Role and Responsibilities

  • May be required to fabricate using a variety of materials.

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and project specifications to understand the scope and requirements of industrial carpentry projects.

  • Construction and Installation: Execute the construction and installation of industrial structures, including but not limited to, framing, formwork, scaffolding, and other carpentry tasks.

  • Material Selection and Handling: Select appropriate materials based on project specifications, ensuring efficient use and proper handling of wood, metal, and other construction materials.

  • Precise Measurements: Take accurate measurements and ensure precise cuts to meet project specifications and maintain high-quality standards.

  • Equipment Operation: Maintain valid certifications or licenses needed to operate equipment.

  • Proper use and maintenance of various tools such as saws, drills, and sanders, ensuring their safe and effective use.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce safety regulations and protocols to create a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other construction professionals, including project managers, engineers, and fellow carpenters, to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve challenges or obstacles encountered during the construction process, adapting to changing project requirements.

  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure that work meets high-quality standards and complies with project specifications and codes.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any changes made during the construction process.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.

  • Basic use of hand tools (hammer, wrench, and tape measure).

  • Experience with powered tools such as drills, and saws.

  • The ability to multi-task, follow-through and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interact with a diverse workforce effectively and professionally.

  • Ability to take initiative with minimal direction.

  • Excellent math skills with strong attention to detail and number accuracy.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Must be able to work under inclement weather conditions (hot, cold, and rain).

Physical Requirements

  • Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.

  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.

  • Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.

  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
