Thorpe is Hiring a Blaster / Painter Near St Gabriel, LA

Role and Responsibilities

  • Perform blasting operations using various tools and equipment

  • Prepare surfaces for painting or coating by removing dirt, rust, old paint, or other contaminants

  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment

  • Maintain and clean blasting and coating equipment and tools

  • Work collaboratively with a team to complete projects efficiently and effectively

  • Adhere to project specifications and timelines

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Experience as a Blaster or in a similar role is preferred

  • Knowledge of blasting techniques, materials, and equipment

  • Proficient in using hand and power tools

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team

  • Experience with spray applied coatings using various pumps.

  • Most be in good standing with DISA and be able to obtain a clearance.

  • Valid TWIC card is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.

  • Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.

  • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
