Thompson Trucking Co, Inc. is currently seeking safe and professional Class A or B Dump Truck Drivers to support their Charleston area operations. Drivers will be responsible for hauling asphalt and aggregate material loads to various worksites within the local area. Additionally, the driver may be required to operate water and/or fuel truck as needed to support operational demands based the candidate’s endorsement qualifications.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a dump truck for the purposes of hauling and delivering construction related materials used for the building of roads, site development and asphalt production typically in a quad or tri-axle dump truck.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed which may require working more than 40 hours but within DOT requirements weekly.
• Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc.
• Keep company vehicle clean and orderly, inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Perform any other general duties as directed.
• Estimated pay, PAY IS based on experience
• Base Commission pay

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must possess a valid Class A or B commercial driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by company policy.
• Over two years of experience operating/driving a commercial vehicle in a construction environment with a CDL.
• Maintain DOT medical certification.
• Must obtain a negative DOT drug screen result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
• Must meet company employment standards with regards to background checks as some job sites require special clearance.
• Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, loud noises, etc.
• 21 years of age.
• Ability to stand, crawl or kneel for long periods of time.
• Have a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) which would have two or less violations in the last 3 years.

Preferred Skills

• Tank and/or Hazmat Endorsements.
• Five years of experience driving a dump truck in a construction environment preferred.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.

Candidates are required to provide a current 10-year MVR (at time of application).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
