Thomas Jefferson University & Jefferson Health is Hiring a Medical Assistant - Counselor OBGYN Services - Center City (Evenings and Hybrid) Near Philadelphia, PA

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The counselor will be the point person for the OB centering Program as well as the RHC/walk in clinic. Duties will include but not limited to recruitment, scheduling, facilitator, MA duties and administrative support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide patient counseling according to Family Planning protocols and standards
  • Inform patients of available special medical services and complete the necessary applications
  • Enter the data for JOGA in a timely manner
  • Completes bill process via FP computer in a timely fashion
  • Submit to JOGA/FPC walk-in pregnancy test statistics
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
  • Provide phlebotomy services for HIV testing when necessary
  • Provide IM injection, when assisting with walk-in patients, if experienced
  • Provide IM injections for STD treatment when applicable and if experienced
  • Attend and successfully complete IDX and EMR classes
  • Remain proficient and knowledgeable within IDX and EMR ndash; attend JUP UPDATE training courses
  • Consistently work within the JUP quality standards in IDX and EMR
  • Scan, File and retrieve appropriate documents in the EMR
  • Utilize and remain current with the tasking function of the EMR
  • Responsible to obtain patient vital signs, history and physical information, in addition to the Health Survey Questionnaire and enter accordingly into the EMR
  • Enter appropriate Meaningful Use information into the EMR
  • 100 percent utilization of the EMR as it pertains to the position and its responsibilities

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

Medical Assistant certification.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of 3- 6 months as a Family Planning Counselor preferred, knowledge of OB.

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University.
