  • Under the direction of the Director of Central Processing and Associate Chief of Anesthesia, the Manager of Anesthesia Support Services is responsible for the direct supervision of anesthesia technicians working all shifts, covering 24 operating rooms and three OR areas. The Manager will oversee all aspects of anesthesia support to include 24/7 oversight and staff supervision, recruitment, employee relations, staffing and training and development. Requires flexibility to occasionally work evenings, overnights and weekends to establish working knowledge of all shifts. The Manager will also provide support to staff functioning as an anesthesia tech when necessary. The Manager of Anesthesia Support Services will have administrative responsibility to manage the $2,300,000 hospital anesthesia materials budget, ensure all anesthesia support personnel provide efficient and safe patient care, meet all JCAHO, OSHA and hospital requirements, interact with all levels of administrative and clinical staff and work closely with PeriOp and anesthesia administration to standardize and improve department operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of anesthesia technicians for all shifts to include recruitment, employee relations, staffing and training and development. Manage anesthesia materials budgets. Manage cost containment efforts. Ensure JCAHO & OSHA compliance. Manage fully-stocked and functional Anesthesia Workroom. Ensure availability of appropriate equipment, supplies and drugs. Work with clinical leadership to standardize and improve operational functions. Liaison between anesthesia department and Clinical Engineering Department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • 5 years experience as an Anesthesia Technician/ Technologist or equivalent training required
  • 1 years of proven management experience in a large complex environment required
  • Graduate of an Anesthesia Technician program or related program
  • ASATT preferred

    PROJECT/CHANGE MANAGEMENT: Ability to implement process improvements
    OTHER: Ability to work within a multi-cultural environment
    COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate with internal and external constituents
    COMMUNICATION: Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills
    Ability to supervise a diverse group of employees and be a leader in times of change and often working in a
    stressful environment.
    Most possess physical endurance to work a minimum of eight hours per day.
    Must be able to work variable hours in order to provide supervision to all shifts of employees.
    When taking emergency calls, must have the ability to reach the Hospital within a timely fashion to meet the emergency situation.
    Ability to work in a high stress area and be able to react quickly and appropriately as directed.
    Ability to learn new skills and equipment
