Position at a Glance:  Responsible for general and preventive maintenance oversight including servicing, and repairs of the Health Center facilities. Schedules routine inspections and records it in the log. Maintains and cares for the Health Center grounds. Supervision duties of the Cleaning and Maintenance Staff.  

Salary: Starting at $42, 834.2 annually, commensurate with experience.

Location: Mansfield, Ohio and surrounding locations in Crawford and Ashland counties.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Responsible for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including but not limited to Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Joint Commission (JC), etc.
  • Meets with COO or designee monthly, or as scheduled, to discuss special needs, problems, assignments. Keeps COO or designee informed of work in progress or completed. Keeps COO or designee informed of any unsafe items or conditions and makes recommendations for improvements. 
  • Plan, develop, and schedule preventive maintenance for all Centers. 
  • Performs routine and specific assignments including minor building repairs, maintenance of fans and air conditioners, plumbing and heating.
  • Monitor department specific inventory of supplies to assure that adequate amounts are kept on hand to meet center demands.
  • Repairs desks, file cabinets, chairs and other furniture and fixtures. Repairs floor and wall coverings. Assembles, moves and installs furniture and fixtures. 
  • Responds to specific work requests from staff using the ticket system.
  • Assists Quality Improvement Committee in planning for facility improvements and modernization projects. 
  • Identifies the need for professional Facility intervention as necessary.
  • Inspects grounds to ensure safe conditions. Makes recommendations for improvements. 
  • Oversees and manages housekeeping staff and supplies. 
  • Responsible for lawn care, lawn cleaning and plant care, leaf removal as appropriate. Responsible for snow removal of sidewalks, entrance ramps, walkways and doorways; spreads sand/salt to prevent slipping.
  • Inspects and makes minor repairs to equipment and to walkways and driveways.
  • Maintains  sprinkler systems and repairs as needed, including periodic safety checks.
  • Maintains Occupational Health safety logs and OSHA form 300, when applicable.
  • Champion Emergency Drills such as fire drills and mass evacuations 
  • A member of the Risk Management Committee. Attends other meetings as needed and assigned.
  • May include light house-cleaning including but not limited to: vacuuming floors, damp-mop floors, dusting and emptying trash. 
  • Maintain records of equipment and building repairs and expenses to predict the useful life of equipment and building and future expenses to repair and/or replace.
  • Requires on  call responsibilities
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: Comprehensive knowledge of all available services provided at TSFHS, community resources, interpersonal communication strategies, and computer software. Ability to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Skill in: Communicating effectively in both written and verbal form, interviewing techniques, managing multiple priorities, effective time management practices, de-escalation skills, problem-solving skills, and managing change and conflict.

Ability to: Manage time and deal with multiple priorities, problem solving, exercise sound judgment, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, make decisions, maintain information in confidential manner, listen well, maintain records and data, use the computer programs and communicate effectively including via the computer.  Willingness to seek out new methods and to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices. Encourage staff to work towards their full potential and to provide excellent services to our patients and their fellow co-workers.

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior work experience in a related field plus at least 3 years’ prior management/supervisory experience preferred.
