The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Vancouver office. This role will be pivotal in managing the financial health of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, creative environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Working closely with the VP Finance to assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts in compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
• Assist in the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner.
• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• File local, provincial, state and federal sales and payroll tax.
• Ensure internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets are followed, ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support.
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
• Process Canadian and US payroll and related reporting requirements.

• Formal training in accounting
• Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting or controller role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
• Experience in the advertising or creative industry is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
