Reports to: Facilities Director
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Technician will assist the Facilities Director in maintaining all agency facilities within regulatory and TLC standards.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist the Facilities Director in maintaining Regulatory Compliance for all facilities in the areas of:
Fire, life-safety, emergency/evacuation procedures, necessary supplies, practice drills, and related documentation.
· Completing assigned work orders within the timeframe and scope that is directed by the Facilities Director.
· Advise the Facilities Director of any hazards, potential facility problems, as observed during the course of your daily routine.
· Responsible for assembling furniture, installing or repairing wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, appliance repair.
· Prepping, patching and painting various TLC facilities and areas.
· Ensure that agency vehicles are maintained according to their scheduled maintenance, as assigned by the Facilities Director.
· As directed by the Facilities Director, visiting TLC facilities to ensure that all needed maintenance and replacement needs are identified and addressed in a timely manner; carpeting, furniture, walls etc.
· Ensure repairs or replacement of defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
· Provide routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
· Ensure motors, belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following automotive checklists.
· Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
· Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, repair manuals, parts catalogs.
· Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
· Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
· Ability to be on an On-call rotation.
· Maintain a professional and positive outlook towards the workplace.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent, required.
· Completed college courses in Maintenance, Construction, or Business, preferred.
· 3-4 years of experience providing facility maintenance for a multiple site company.
· Basic computer skills (Email: Calendar via Outlook; Internet research).
· Must consistently be patience, tactful, and have a pleasant professional demeanor when communicating with all levels of staff.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
· Ability to set priorities and organize work responsibilities to ensure completion of assigned tasks within preset timeframes.
· Ability to communicate and work effectively with people of diverse cultures, education, social, and economic backgrounds.
· Ability to work in a team centered environment.
· Maintain a valid CA driver’s license with a driving record that is acceptable for TLC’s insurance carrier.
· Ability to work in a service-oriented environment, with a view of departments as customers.
· Ability to frequently change priorities, work within preset timelines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· Ability to foster teamwork and open communication at all levels of the organization. Make supportive statements and be open to constructive suggestions and criticism.
· Must have excellent problem-solving and follow through skills.
· Ability to write routine reports and documentation.
· Ability to exercise mature judgment.
· Ability to lift various weight amounts from 10 lbs to 100 lbs or more.
· Ability to successfully complete a background clearance.
· Once a job offer is made, the ability to successfully complete a medical clearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is extremely physical and splits its time between an air-conditioned houses/offices and outdoor areas (yard areas, parking lots, storage bins). Daily, there are outside activities and therefore the working conditions are subject to weather elements, i.e. sun, wind, and rain. Frequent driving is required. There is frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, climbing, stooping, crouching, standing, bending, and kneeling. This position also requires lifting and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Use of hand tools is required (hammers, drills, ladders, snakes, etc.) Frequent lifting of weight that varies between 10-100 pounds or more. Cell phone use is moderate. Although interactions with consumers are infrequent, on occasion, consumers may become physical including but not limited to hitting, kicking, grabbing, and biting.
