A CMM Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to ensure accurate and efficient measurement of parts and components. The role involves collaborating with engineering and quality control teams to ensure that products meet specified tolerances and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Part Inspection: Set up and operate CMM equipment to measure and inspect parts, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Program Optimization: Continuously improve and optimize CMM programs to enhance measurement accuracy and efficiency. Implement best practices for programming and inspection processes.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze measurement data and inspection reports to identify trends, variations, and anomalies. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to address any issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of measurement programs, inspection results, and any modifications made to programs. Ensure documentation complies with company and industry standards.
  • Training: Train and guide operators and quality control personnel on CMM operation, programming, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and quality control teams to interpret design specifications, understand measurement requirements, and provide insights for product improvement.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in quality control activities, participate in root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and experience with CMM operation.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Attention to detail and precision in measurement and programming.
  • Analytical skills to interpret measurement data and identify trends.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address measurement challenges and anomalies.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and quality control standards
  • Safely and effectively lift, carry, and move objects of varying weights.
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing, balancing, standing, and walking, for extended periods and maintain the necessary physical dexterity and coordination.
  • Work in various environmental conditions, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, weather, and noise levels.

Pay: $73,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
