Under the supervision of the STEAM Day Camp Director, the STEAM Day Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision of children ages 4-17 while developing positive relationships in a safe outside environment. The assignments and hours for this position are based on camp enrollment. This position will contribute to the overall mission of the YMCA to build strong kids, families, and communities. The STEAM Day Camp Counselor must be available to work at various locations from May 1 through August 23 between 9:00am-3:00pm Monday through Friday. (Approximate times may vary per program location and training needs.)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist in the supervision of the Day Camp participants to ensure appropriate development occurs in a fun, healthy and safe environment.
2. Study the curriculum provided to help create and assist in presenting lessons for various day camps throughout Milwaukee.
3. Responsible for adherence to all policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations.
4. Be a role model to our participants by demonstrating an appreciation for diversity and promote a culture of inclusivity within a learning environment.
5. Embody the four core values of the Y (caring, honesty, respect and responsibility) with a dedication to strengthening the foundations of the local community.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
